Hello cookies! Browned butter dark chocolate chip pretzel cookies to be exact! Oh my life are these not just the best?! Salty sweet cookies are my absolute favorite combo and this easy recipe will have you eating them with a jumbo glass of almond milk in NO TIME! Let the indulgent snacking commence… or ya know… read below for regular ramblings and recipe 😉

Happy Friday everyone! We are celebrating this long memorial weekend with a treat! A browned butter dark chocolate chip pretzel cookie! I’m not sure if you guys know this about me but I literally can’t order any kind of ice cream without a cookie on the side… I actually feel sad when its not there. Growing up we had many late night bowls of ice cream at home and my Dad always used to crumble up chips ahoy cookies on our scoops. It was and still is his thing. I got so used to having them that I feel like something is missing if the cookie is gone! Weird, I know.

This is probably why chocolate chip cookies and ice cream are my two all time favorite desserts. Ever.

I just really think there is nothing better than some flaky sea salt on top of a warm chocolate chip cookie inside a bed of ice cream. Are you drooling yet? Or craving a cookie?! Because I am!

Before we chat cookies (we will, I promise!). I figured I’d catch up with you guys while I dunk one into this cold glass of almond milk while writing this post. Yesterday we (by we I mean Abagail and myself) went to a super beautiful wine party with Pop Sugar and Walmart in West Hollywood. It sounds and felt super boogie! I hardly ever leave my sweat pants on a Thursday night but man was it worth it! They did such an amazing job with the venue space and we sipped sparkling rose all night long. It was an epic way to start this long holiday weekend!

Do you guys have any fun plans for the weekend?! We are having a fun Mexican potluck tonight at the house and then laying low on Saturday and Sunday. One of my blogger friends, Sierra from Sincerely Social is coming over and she is bringing her golden retriever! I have been telling Rascal all week that his new friend Quinn is coming over but I know he has no idea what I’m talking about #dogmomprobz

Monday we are headed to a dodger game! I haven’t been to one this season yet so I am really looking forward to it! Jared planned the whole thing himself and coordinated it with my family. I thought it was just super sweet of him. I feel like I plan so much stuff (nature of the beast) that it is just so relieving when someone takes over, thanks darlin! Excited to eat a dodger dog with you 😉

Alright alright… should we get back to cookies?!

I just know that these browned butter dark chocolate chip pretzel cookies are going to be your new favorite salty sweet dessert!

The cookie dough comes together so easily (and tastes freaking delicious) and you will have fresh cookies in under an hour! I hardly ever make a chocolate chip cookie these days without browned butter. That extra nuttiness goes SO FAR! If you have never made a chocolate chip cookie with browned butter, get on it sister friend. It’s bomb.

I folded in super chunky dark chocolate chunks and pretzel pieces to the batter. It seems like a lot of people add a caramel center to cookies and you totally can! I just think it can get a little crazy but by all means give it a go! Watch these babies like a hawk! No one likes a cement hard cookie. 9 minutes seemed to be the sweet spot for me!

After you pull them out you can NOT forget about some flaky sea salt! It is seriously the best part! Don’t forget it, okay?!

Tag me on insta if you guys give these a shot! I hope you do because they are just so tasty! Happy long weekend everyone 🙂

Browned Butter Dark Chocolate Chip Pretzel Cookies

Prep Time15 minutes
Servings: 35 -40

ingredients

  • 2 Sticks of unsalted butter 1 Cup
  • 2 ½ Cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 Teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 Teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 1 ½ Cups of light brown sugar
  • 2 Whole eggs
  • 3 Teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
  • 1 Cup of dark chocolate chunks
  • 1 Cup of crushed up pretzels plus more for topping
  • Maldon sea salt for topping

instructions

  • In a heavy bottom sauce pan melt butter on medium heat. Melt/brown the butter until it just starts to turn a light amber color. Be careful! The butter can burn very easily! Remove the butter from the pan and into a separate large glass bowl to cool. While butter is cooling prepare the rest of the dough ingredients.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a large bowl whisk together flour, baking soda and salt and set aside. Add eggs, brown sugar, and vanilla extract to the melted butter and whisk together. Add wet ingredient mixture to flour mixture and fold to combine. Add in chocolate chunks and pretzel pieces to cookie dough. Roll 1 inch dough balls and flatten slightly onto cookie sheet. Be sure to give cookies enough baking room to expand (don’t crowd your cookie sheet!). Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are just golden brown. Sprinkle with maldon flaky sea salt before serving, if desired.
