Pumpkin Spice Margaritas

These pumpkin spice margaritas are a great cocktail to make for fall and have an seasonal twist on a classic margarita.

Ingredients

For pumpkin simple syrup:

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp cinnamon ground
  • 1-2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp ginger ground
  • ¼ tsp cloves ground
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 4 tbsp unsweetened pumpkin puree canned

For margarita:

  • 2 fl oz tequila blanco or reposado
  • ½ fl oz cointreau or orange liquor
  • ½ fl oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 fl oz pumpkin spice syrup
  • 1 dehydrated orange wheel or lime wheel for garnish
  • 2 cups ice

Instructions

For pumpkin spice simple syrup

  • In a small saucepan add granulated sugar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, cinnamon sticks, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and pumpkin purèe. Stir together and bring to a simmer.
  • Turn the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheese cloth into an air tight container to cool completely.

For margarita:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add tequila, cointreau or orange liquor, lime juice and homemade pumpkin simple syrup.
  • Seal the top and shake the cocktail shaker until the outside is very cold. Strain into a low ball or margarita glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a fresh lime wheel or dehydrated orange wheel.
