Did you guys have a nice weekend?!

Friday we had our standard #sushifriday date night. Jared and I have been trying a new sushi restaurant on Friday for the last year and a half and it’s one of the best things we could have ever done. It’s like an unexpected, surprisingly, yet wonderful two hours of stability and the nicest end cap to the week. We usually try and venture out to a new sushi place but occasionally we get stuck at our favorites. We honestly try so many I couldn’t even give you a list because I have forgotten all the names. If you guys want a So. Cal sushi round up I’ll see what I can do!

Saturday I worked on some Easter content because I’m a work a holic and sisters gotta get her Easter content fix. We worked with some GORGEOUS pastels this weekend on a new tablescape and I may have a cocktail coming up with a “rose gold” theme (SO EXCITED). Take a sneak peek from instagram HERE.

Yesterday I had a few hours of much needed down time with Jared and Rascal. If any of you reading are Southern California natives, we headed up to the Claremont Village for dinner. We have also inherently become “patio” people because we always have our pup. But I sort of love it, Al Fresco is my all time favorite way to eat any meal.

So we covered Friday, Saturday, Sunday but LETS TALK ABOUT MONDAY! (we’re going to get to the delicious salmon too, I promise!)

Three words: BIG. LITTLE. LIES!

Are you watching it? Have you watched it? Did you read the book? Monday’s are just naturally not so exciting but MAN. I really am not the type of person that is into their “shows”. Like I don’t tevo (that’s probably not even the correct terminology anymore) or get excited for new episodes but I am REALLY into this show. I try and still be human on Sunday nights and not a complete work a holic… so I save it for a Monday night screening and it’s the BEST.

Uh.

My dearest friend Katie and her boyfriend came to town and got us into it. Ha “us”, Jared is just a trooper and watches it with me. So on Mondays we TRY and have a nice dinner at home. Really exciting I know. Lately I have been super into bowl food. There is something so cozy about wrapping up with a nice flavorful bowl of food. I’ll blame it on my high school chipotle eating days. This salmon is wonderful though. They key to salmon is to not over cook it. A flaky- slightly undercooked piece of salmon can be so delicious! I used to be a frequent chicken eater but I really have jumped ship.

I went with an asian flare to give it a nice flavor kick! Which means tons of fresh garlic, ginger and my secret weapon: red chili sauce. The recipe is just for the filet but this pairs wonderfully with some fresh stir fried vegetables and brown rice.

Red Chili Glazed Salmon

1/4 Cup of soy sauce
1/4 Cup of red chili sauce (found in asian food isle)
1 Tablespoon of freshly grated ginger
1 Tablespoon of freshly grated garlic
1 Teaspoon of red chili flakes
Juice from a lime
Juice from half an orange
+sesame seeds, chopped green onions, and avocado slices for serving

Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Place large salmon filet on a non stick baking sheet. Season generously with salt and pepper. In a small sauce pan add in all ingredients and heat on medium until mixture has thickened. Pour all of marinade on salmon and bake for 10-12 minutes until salmon is flaky. Top with sesame seeds, green onions and avocado slices for serving.

  1. Hi Elizabeth, this recipe looks so beautiful and yum. Could you suggest any replacement technique for the baking part? Can this recipe be executed on stove top?
