Caramel Apple Sangria is a sweet, fruity and festive cocktail recipe featuring white wine, apple cider, vodka, fresh apples and caramel drizzle! Wow all your guests with this fun and cheerful pitcher cocktail recipe that easily serves a crowd – and the perfect make ahead!
Why you’ll love this easy caramel apple sangria recipe
The ultimate fall cocktail! Nothing says fall to me more than an apple cider drink to enjoy the season. While I love my original apple cider sangria, this caramel apple version takes it up a notch thanks to the super special caramel drizzle.
Serves a crowd! Batch cocktail recipes are my favorite because they take 5 minutes to whip together and serve a ton of friends and family. Plus, there’s only one type of fruit to cut with this one. Less prep, more time with the ones you love. Now that’s what the holidays are all about.
Make ahead! Another beauty of sangria – the longer it sits, the better it tastes! Fall apple sangria can be made up to 2 days in advance and the apples not only soak up all that booze, but they also impart major apple essence into the sangria itself. That’s a win-win in my recipe book.
Ingredients
All you need is 5 simple ingredients and a large pitcher to make this apple sangria at home. Gather together:
- Sauvignon Blanc, or your favorite dry white wine
- Vodka, optional: caramel flavored vodka
- Apple cider
- Apples
- Caramel syrup
Ingredient notes and substitutions:
- Wine: Stick to a dry white wine like Sauv Blanc, Pinot Grigio or Dry Riesling
- Vodka: Feel free to use unflavored vodka or go for caramel or vanilla flavored.
- Apple cider: I recommend apple cider over apple juice as it has a more intense, fruity, concentrated flavor.
- Apples: Slice up your favorite, like Gala, Honeycrisp, Pink Lady or something more tart like Granny Smith.
- Caramel: Save yourself a step and pick up a jar of your favorite caramel sauce at the grocery store.
How to make
This apple cider sangria with vodka is ready to chill before you can say party time! Here’s how to do it:
Mix sangria: In a large pitcher add white wine, vodka, cider, and apple slices. Mix together until well combined.
Chill: Let the sangria chill for at least an hour to allow flavors to come together. Give the batch one more stir before serving.
Drizzle and serve: Drizzle inside of glasses with a thick layer of caramel syrup. Pour in sangria and top with apple slices.
Make the caramel drizzle
Serve this sangria in a large glass, with plenty of caramel drizzle just before pouring. It’s best served chilled, with or without ice depending on your preference. I like to make sure each glass has a few apple slices to nosh on at the end.
To make the caramel drizzle, you can either:
- Spoon 1-2 tablespoons caramel into the bottom of the glass. Swirl with a straw or wooden skewer.
- If your caramel sauce has a spout, hold the glass at a 45° angle and drizzle the caramel in while turning to coat all sides.
Drizzle with extra caramel syrup at the end, if desired.
How to Store
Leftover caramel apple sangria will keep for up to 3 days when stored in an airtight container or sealed jar or pitcher.
Enjoy with friends and family and soak up the flavors of fall!
Recipe tips & notes:
- Apples: Cut into thin slices or chunks, whichever is your preference.
- Make ahead: Sangria can be chilled with apples for up to 48 hours. The apples and sangria get infused with more flavor the longer it sits!
