Today’s cocktail menu: CBD cocktails! Were talking CBD cocktail mixers, tinctures, and a CBD pomegranate grapefruit paloma recipe that will leave you extremely relaxed.
I have something a little crazy for you today! Are you ready for a CBD cocktail?! Yes, you heard me right!
Whether this is your first time seeing a CBD cocktail or you know all the great bars to find one… we’re going to do it together! I love diving into a forbidden fruit.
Last week we attended ‘Expo West’ in Anaheim. In short, it is basically a huge food festival with tons of different brands that you see at Whole Foods and other grocery stores. Everything from La Croix to Talenti Gelato! Thousands of these small and large food brands come together to display their products and more importantly use this as a launching platform for new products they will have for the year.
We learned about tons of different food trends! Some of the words we heard over and over were keto, plant-based, collagen, cauliflower and CBD…
I truly think that CBD infused food and drink products will be very mainstream in just a few short years. I think people have a ton of mixed feelings about it and while I won’t get into the great pot debate I do believe that it’s an alternative that you should try once. CBD does not alter any cognitive function. The most it will do is give you feelings of relaxation, euphoria, and can help alleviate anxiety. Also, there’s no hangover so…
I personally use a CBD lavender muscle roller stick (it just looks like deodorant) on my shoulders after a long shoot day. I get super sore from being hunched over all day and it really helps relax the area. I’m also just naturally a really tense person and it seems to help me from straining more than I have to.
After the Expo last week I started to be really curious about the world of CBD cocktails. I think this type of bar will represent a huge profit in a few years and my tastebuds were buzzing to try out a few mixtures. Naturally, I went a tequila route with this pomegranate grapefruit Paloma.
I’m not a total expert on the CBD cocktail world yet but it seems like you can go a few different routes…
CBD Cocktail Mixer… The moment I saw these Recess CBD sparkling drinks I had to give them a dry. They are basically like Spindrift or La Croix with a dose of CBD added in. These are great if you’re just diving into the CBD cocktail world. Plus, they’re so freaking cute. Their branding gives me all the feels.
CBD Oils and Tinctures… A tincture is actually alcohol based so it will shake into a cocktail almost seamlessly, a CBD oil will float to the top of your drink and have more of an aroma. I would go with the tincture route if you’re looking to try something more subtle. I prefer the tincture.
It really depends on your preference but I will advise you to be careful if you decide to do a full-on cocktail versus just a drink with CBD. Today’s recipe for pomegranate grapefruit Palomas will leave you feeling very relaxed and maybe even a little sleepy. There I said it! They’re perfect for Thursday night (watching Grey’s Anatomy) if you’re really looking to wind down from the week. I know from experience, okay? I will also advise that CBD cocktails will affect everyone differently, so start off with a smaller dose and work your way up.
You can find CBD products at any dispensary or you can try an online shop like Lord Jones. They’re product and branding is super cute. They only sell CBD based products so if you’re nervous to try it out this is a great place to start.
