This olive wreath appetizer is made from all the best appetizer ingredients like green olives, cheese balls, bead and pesto dip. It’s one of the most festive appetizer recipes you can make for the holidays, can be made ahead of time and each bite is so tasty!
A very festive holiday appetizer!
- Perfect when you need something quick and festive! This olive wreath appetizer comes together in minutes and looks SO festive on any dinner table or appetizer setting.
- Nice and light! This isn’t a super heavy appetizer but rather something tasty and flavorful to wet your appetite before the main event.
- Totally customizable! Use any of your fav cured meats, breads, and cheeses to your liking!
- Can be made ahead of time! Make these skewers the morning of or the night before a gathering and wrap them tightly with plastic wrap or an air right container. Assemble your ‘wreath’ before serving!
Ingredients for olive wreath skewers:
- mozzarella balls– I used small to medium sized cheeseballs
- salami slices- You can use any flavor! Spicy, peppered, sweet!
- green olives– The star of the skewer! I love adding olives to my appetizers, they are such a crowd pleaser! They are packed with antioxidants, low in calories, and are a source of monounsaturated fat, which is associated with increased longevity, decreased risk of heart disease, reduced risk of chronic disease, lower blood pressure, and improved brain function!
- french bread- You can use any bread for these skewers but I find a french baguette compliments all the ingredients well and are always easy to source!
- cherry tomatoes – For a burst of freshness!
- Rosemary Sprigs- These will go in between each skewer to emulate a ‘wreath’.
- Pesto Dip, for serving
How to make an olive wreath appetizer…
- Place each ingredient into a small bowl for easy assembly.
- To each skewer add a mozzarella ball, folded salami slice, California ripe olive, cube of french bread, and a cherry tomato.
- Assemble skewers onto a round serving platter with a sprig of rosemary in between each skewer. Serve a small bowl of pesto in the center of the wreath for dipping.
Can I make this ahead?
Yes! You can totally make this olive wreath appetizer ahead of time! Wrap tightly or store the skewers in an air tight container the morning of or the night before serving. I wouldn’t recommend making them any other days in advance as the bread can become stale. Bring to room temp before serving!
