This Mini Steak Frites Recipe is both super adorable and packs a punch of flavor! Imagine garlic and rosemary flavored fries wrapped up with juicy steak, and then topped with a dash of mouthwatering steak sauce. This is such a unique bite-sized appetizer that’ll have everyone talking!

What are Steak Frites?
Steak frites translates to “steak and fries.” Pretty simple, right? This dish originated in France and Belgium (no one can agree on which one, although Belgium lays a strong claim) and it’s freakin’ delicious.
It’s a quick and easy way to enjoy a meat-and-potatoes kind of meal, plus it feels kind of chic, doesn’t it? Imagine steak frites with a crisp martini – YUM!
Why You’ll Love This Mini Steak Frites Recipe
One of my favorite ways to develop a recipe is to take a classic dish and put my own spin on it, so after obsessing over steak frites on a trip to Paris, I came home and decided to make a mini version!
These little steak appetizer bites pack a punch of flavor and are super filling! They’re great if you’re having just a cocktail party or need a bit more time before serving dinner.
One of my favorite parts of this recipe is how easy it is! They look super gourmet, but you can do what I did and just use frozen fries to make your life a heck of a lot easier. I jazzed them up with fresh garlic, rosemary, etc., and they were delicious.
To serve, just wrap a small strip of perfectly grilled steak around a few fries for the most delicious appetizer bite ever! I drizzled a dash of steak sauce on them, but you can leave it on the side for optional dipping.

Ingredients
The two main ingredients in this recipe are obviously the steak and the french fries. I used skirt steak and frozen fries, then jazzed them up with seasonings. Here’s the full list of ingredients:
- Skirt steak
- Canola Oil
- Salt & pepper
- Frozen shoestring fries
- Minced Garlic
- Olive oil
- Seasonings & Herbs: Minced rosemary, thyme sprigs, salt, and ground black pepper.
- Optional: A1 or your favorite steak sauce.
How to Make This Steak Appetizer
Step 1: Season & Grill Steak
Heat a large cast-iron skillet or grill skillet on high heat with canola oil. Dry the skirt steak with a paper towel and season it evenly with salt and pepper. Grill the steak for 1-2 mins on each side. Let steak rest for a few minutes after grilling and then cut into thin strips.
Step 2: Bake & Season Fries
In a large bowl, toss the frozen fries with olive oil, garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bake them according to package directions until they’re golden brown.
Step 3: Assemble Steak Appetizer
Wrap a few French fries with a piece of steak and poke the app together with a cocktail skewer. Drizzle with steak sauce or serve it on the side for dipping.

FAQs
I use skirt steak, but you can also use ribeye, flank steak, or NY strip. They all have the appropriate flavor and tenderness for this dish.
It’s so easy! You can make frozen fries ten times better by doing a variation of what I did in this recipe – adding seasonings. I added herbs, garlic, salt, and pepper, but you can get creative and add your own favorite flavors. Old bay, red pepper flakes, onion powder, or parmesan come to mind.
I think you can really make it pop by adding your own sauce or drizzle. What if you made a compound butter (that’s butter mixed with herbs and seasonings) and then drizzled it over your apps before serving? That’d be delish! Or make your own steak sauce, use your favorite dip, etc. It could be fun to set out a few different dips like ranch, A1, and ketchup so your guests can choose how they want to enjoy their steak frites.

What Is A Good Appetizer Drink?
Oh, I’m so glad you asked! I have quite a wide assortment of cocktails you can browse, but I’d love to highlight a few current favorites.
I’m loving the mellow and relaxing flavor of cucumbers these days, so I would recommend a cucumber mojito. It’s light and refreshing for the warmer weather. Another great choice is a cherry vodka sour because it packs a lot of flavor and cherries never go out of style.
However, if you’re having a party, you can’t go wrong with a big batch cocktail! I have a ton of recipes that’ll make a big pitcher, so you can make your drinks ahead of time instead of having to play bartender. Don’t know where to start? You can’t go wrong with a big ‘ol batch of limoncello spritz cocktails!
