Why you’ll love pomegranate cocktail ornaments
Presentation is key! An ornamentini would not be complete without the ornament itself. Pick up a set on Amazon or your local craft store. You will be the host with the most for this one.
Deliciously elegant! Not only is it gorgeous and showstopping, but down right delicious too. Pomegranate and orange celebrate the winter season with special tart, sweet, citrusy flavors.
Very Merry Christmas! Make your Christmas holiday extra special this year and wow all your guests. This is a very merry and Instagram-worthy cocktail recipe to spread some cheer!
Ingredients
The ingredient list for this cocktail Christmas ornament is short and sweet. You will need:
- Pomegranate juice
- Freshly squeezed orange juice
- Citron vodka
- Cointreau
- Pomegranate seeds, or fresh cranberries, for garnish
- Orange slices, for garnish
- Rosemary sprigs, for garnish
Ingredient notes & substitutions:
- Juice: Swap out the pomegranate juice for cranberry juice or cherry juice instead.
- Orange: Use freshly squeezed orange juice from a fresh orange for the best flavor.
- Vodka: Go for your favorite citron vodka, like Absolut Citron or Grey Goose Citron.
- Garnish: The garnishes are totally optional, but I feel it adds a gorgeous touch. Go the extra mile with sugared cranberries!
How to make
The key to perfecting cocktail ornaments is to have a funnel on hand for pouring into the glass ornament. Here’s how I like to do it:
Shake the cocktail: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add pomegranate juice, orange juice, citron vodka and cointreau. Shake for 30 seconds.
Funnel into glass ornament: Strain the cocktail over a funnel into a glass ornament or in a chilled martini glass.
Garnish and serve: Garnish with pomegranate seeds or fresh cranberries, an orange slice and rosemary. Enjoy!
Shop for glass ornaments
Now, you need some glass ornaments! I find glass to be a bit more elegant, but you can use plastic ornaments too. They sell glass ornaments in sets on Amazon or look for them at your local crafts store, like Michael’s.
I like to give them a gentle rinse before filling them with the cocktail.
Serving suggestions
This Christmas cocktail deserves an unforgettable presentation. I love to place the cocktail ornaments in the martini glass and leave it up to my friends to pour into their own glass. This way, it becomes a sort-of interactive drink for all to enjoy!
And I make sure to have a few nibbles around, like olive wreath appetizer, fried blue cheese olives, cranberry pistachio cheese ball and cherry pecan baked brie to keep them satisfied.
Make ahead for holiday dinner parties
While this Christmas cocktail does take a bit longer to make, it’s so easy to make ahead the morning of or a few hours before the party. Simply scale the recipe up by however many you need and shake in batches depending on the size of your cocktail shaker. Fill the glass ornaments, place them on a towel lined baking sheet and pop in the fridge.
This way, all the work is done and you can serve straight away when your guests arrive.
Recipe tips & notes:
- Use a funnel: This is the easiest and most efficient way to get the cocktail into the small opening of the ornament.
- If you don’t have a funnel, strain the cocktail into a measuring cup with a spout, then pour into the ornament.
- All that being said, leave some space at the top of the ornament to prevent spillage.
