Can easily be made into a batched cocktail! This drink can easily be made into a batch for 4-8 drinks and ahead of time! Gather all of your ingredients into a large mason jar, chill and serve over ice. Just be sure to give the batch a good stir before serving.
Ingredients for an Italian Margarita
- fresh lime juice– Even Italian Inspired margaritas need fresh lime juice!
- blood orange juice (or pomegranate juice if not in season)- I love the fruity flavor and rich color depth blood oranges provide.
- limoncello– An Italian liqueur that makes your cocktail burst with citrus flavor.
- blanco tequila– Blanco tequila is a mellow addition to this cocktail and helps the citrus flavors shine.
- Club soda, top top (optional)
How to make an Italian Margarita
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add in lime juice, blood orange juice, limoncello and tequila. Shake for 20-30 seconds or until the cocktail shaker is well chilled.
- Pour into a low glass with ice, top with club soda if desired and garnish with a blood orange slice.
Italian Margarita vs. Regular Margarita
This Italian inspired margarita has a few ingredient swaps to a traditional margarita. We are swapping out the usual addition of Cointreau (orange liqueur) with limoncello and adding in blood orange juice alongside fresh lime juice for a deeper color and flavor.
