If your pup is a peanut butter lover like mine, these peanut butter pumpkin dog treats are a MUST make!
These easy treatos are as simple as making a tray of cookies and are laced with peanut butter and pumpkin flavors.
I’m not a regular dog mom, I’m a cool dog mom
Making homemade dog treats for your furry friend is such sweet treat. Our 6 year old golden retriever Rascal adores when I make him these homemade peanut butter pumpkin dog treats because they are fresh and SO flavorful.
Clean ingredients! If your skeptical about giving your pet store bought treats (because of the 30+) ingredients, I don’t blame you! This is a fool proof way to know exactly whats going into their treats.
Great for pet allergies! If your pet has food allergies (Rascal has a ton!) making your own homemade dog treats is the way to go! Rascal is a giant peanut butter lover, so not only do these agree with his allergies but he loves the taste!
Easy as making cookies! These homemade peanut butter pumpkin treats are as easy as making a tray of shortbread cookies! They will come together in minutes and can easily be batched and froze for future baking!
Ingredients for Peanut Butter Pumpkin Dog Treats:
- whole wheat flour
- canned pumpkin puree
- smooth peanut butter
- eggs
- kosher salt
- ground cinnamon
- apple juice or water
How to make the treats:
These treats are as easy as making a batch of cookies or biscuits!
- Preheat the oven to 350 F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl add whole wheat flour, pumpkin puree, smooth peanut butter, eggs, salt, cinnamon and apple juice or water.
- Mix the dough together until it is crumbly and combined.
- Transfer mixture to a large cutting board and knead dough together lightly until the dough comes together into a ball. Add 1-2 tbsp of apple juice or water if the mixture is too dry (you may experience dough dryness if you live in a high altitude or dry climate).
- Roll out the dough into ½ inch thickness. Use a paring knife to cut dough into shapes or a bone cookie cutter. Transfer treats to a baking sheet and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the tops are golden.
Why I love making homemade dog treats!
Our dog Rascal had an extensive allergy test done when he was just two and we found out he was allergic to about a dozen different things. Everything from different types of grass, beef, rice, salmon and more!

Basically, making homemade dog treats gives you full control on what goes inside of them! Most of the treats from typical pet stores (heck even the fancy pet stores) have some type of rice or beef ingredient. When I make treats at home I know that they will 100% settle well with Rascal and of course they are super tasty. He’s a big peanut butter lover.
How to store Peanut Butter Pumpkin Dog Treats:
Because these are all natural and homemade dog treats, the shelf life is a bit shorter than your average dog treat. Store them in an air tight container for 2-3 days on the counter, or 3-5 days in the refrigerator.
You can also make half the batch and freeze the remaining dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap tightly and freeze. Thaw out for 1 hour on the counter before attempting to roll the dough out.
