Well, it’s official! We are moving into a live/work loft at the end of the month!

If you’re thinking ‘wow, that’s fast’ I’m right there with you sister. Currently on a 2 cup coffee minimum these days lol.

In short, renting in Southern California is preeeetty competitive. We had been casually looking for a loft like this for a few months. Not only do they go FAST but they are competitive. When we went and saw this place it was sort of a ‘what the hell’ moment, and we went for it.

We have had an itch to live in a space like this for a while. I know eventually I’ll end up in a house again but I think this will be a fun adventure for a few years before settling in something hopefully more permanent.

We found out a few days later that we got it and pretty much had to accept right on the phone. I’m basically feeling all the feels, but I’m mostly excited to have more than DOUBLE the amount of space we had before.

When are you moving?

We technically move out the beginning of March which leaves us about 6.5 days to pack up our entire house. It’s going to be a real roller coaster from now until then!

Will you also work from the loft?

Yes! So these lofts are technically three stories.

The bottom level (see below) is a total work space/office and the top two floors are living areas.

Some people have turned them into hair salons, law offices, etc. I plan to just use it as a glorified shooting space.

In the three years since I’ve quit my job and started blogging/ producing content full time I’ve gained some amazing clients like Purely Elizabeth Granola, Peelz, and all of my amazing blog sponsorships. Needless to say it’s taken quite a toll on our 750 sq ft house and the prop/work materials have gotten a bit out of control.

I have huge dreams (that got put on pause since the pandemic) of having my own studio house (similar to this) but real estate is a bit crazy right now because everyone is working at home and I didn’t think making such a huge decision during uncertain times was the right choice, so I compromised with this space. While it was some what of a compromise, I am SO excited to move and have a fresh start.

I can’t wait to share with you the details on what I plan on doing down here, more to come!

Are you sad to leave your house?

If you had asked me last week I would have told you I was devastated to leave our house. I started crying after I called our landlord and told him. He is the nicest guy and pretty much let me do whatever I wanted, did you see our Rental Kitchen Makeover or our backyard makeover?!

I absolutely love our little craftsman house and all it’s charm. We have made some amazing memories here, had some of the best parties, and I expanded my business here more than ever imaginable.

But… I can’t make the house any bigger. This house was so so so good to us, but it was always meant to be a stepping stone. And while I love it’s 100 year old charm, I can’t make it grow any larger. We are simply bursting at the seams and need more space.

What are you most excited for at the loft?

This list is LONG

Two bathrooms?! Talk about lux-er-y.

A dishwasher? I’m going to need a tutorial…

Almost 1700 square feet…holy moly.

A kitchen island…I’ve never had one and I’m strangely excited.

A dining room that fits more that 3 people!

Basically, just space.

Space to throw Rascal his ball more than 5 feet in the living room, walk through a hallway without hitting my knee on something and having a place for my business and a place to rest that aren’t an arms-distance away from each other.

I am so hoping this new place brings peace, organization and happiness because as we all know it’s been a YEAR and I am SOO over due for a breath of fresh air. I plan on blogging as much as I can as I decorate each room and bring the space to life. I’ve been obsessively pinning on this Loft Board.

Stay tuned!

XOXO
