The Hugo Spritz is the gentle, sweet, and floral cousin of the Aperol Spritz, and today’s recipe will make a big batch of it! Instead of a bitter liqueur, the Hugo calls for a delightful elderflower liqueur that gives this spritz an overall lighter flavor. I know you and your guests will want seconds (and thirds) so here’s a big batch recipe that’ll keep you sipping all night long!

Why You’ll Love This Hugo Spritz Recipe

I became a true Hugo Spritz advocate after my trip to Italy and now it’s my go-to, especially in the summer. I mean, anyone who has seen my Summer of Spritz series knows I adore any kind of spritz, but this one is truly special.

The key to this recipe is the elderflower liqueur (I use St. Germain) which gives this aperitif a herbaceous and floral flavor rather than a bitter one. It’s no wonder that Taylor Swift loves the French Blonde Cocktail so much – St. Germain gives it such an elegant twist!

Since I know you’re going to love this elderflower spritz so much, I made this a big batch recipe so you don’t have to worry about mixing up a million of these for each guest individually. Get ready to enjoy a night full of this fresh, bright, and bubbly cocktail!

Ingredients

I honestly love making this spritz because it’s made with fresh and invigorating ingredients. Mint and lime are a match made in heaven, so make sure you have extra on hand so everyone can add more to their individual drinks! Here’s a list of everything you’ll need, but be sure to check out the recipe card for measurements.

prosecco, st. germain elderflower liqueur, limes, and mint
  • Elderflower liqueur – I use St. Germain; it’s made with fresh elderflower!
  • Limes – for both juice and garnish.
  • Prosecco – for bubbles, of course. Chill it for at least 30 minutes beforehand.
  • Mint – fresh mint leaves are a must!
  • Ice – I typically use crushed ice, but you can use whatever!

Step 3: Serve and Enjoy!

Serve your spritz immediately so the prosecco doesn’t go flat! Let guests add more garnish if they’d like, and enjoy this endlessly sippable treat!

FAQs

Can I make this big batch of Hugo spritz ahead of time?

You can definitely batch this ahead of time! Add the elderflower liqueur, lime juice, and limes to a large pitcher or beverage dispenser, cover, and refrigerate. Once you’re ready to serve, add the fresh mint leaves and bottles of prosecco. Stir everything together until it’s fully combined and then fill the remainder of the pitcher or dispenser with ice. Serve immediately and enjoy!

How can I serve a big batch of spritz at a party?

If you want this batch to last all night (you might need to double it – this one is addicting!) you can do something like this Aperol Spritz Bar. Mix the drink together as listed in Step 1, and then leave the garnish, prosecco, and ice available on the side to self-serve. That way everyone can pour themselves a drink with the proportions they love – and the prosecco won’t go flat!

What’s the difference between a Hugo and Aperol spritz?

They’re like cousins! The Hugo is made with elderflower liqueur so it’s light and floral, while the Aperol spritz has a bitter flavor. Both have a liqueur and bubbles though.
