One sip of this Passionfruit Spritz will transport you to a tropical locale with the breeze blowing in your hair! It’s a little sweet, a lot fruity, and full of Prosecco bubbles. This Summer of Spritz, enjoy a refreshing passionfruit cocktail with a slice of fruit and fresh lime and mint as garnish. The summer never tasted so good!
Why You’ll Love this Passionfruit Cocktail
As I was thinking about the most refreshing, summery, and glamorous recipes I could make for the Summer of Spritz, I knew I had to incorporate passionfruit! I’ve made a yummy passionfruit martini before and this is like a lighter and more bubbly version, so I know I’ll be addicted all summer long.
To make this cocktail, stir together passionfruit juice, prosecco, and passionfruit liqueur for a powerhouse elixir. Then, add some sparkling water for extra bubbles that make this drink the perfect poolside sipper!
I like to garnish this spritz with a slice of fresh passionfruit which means I get to nosh on some seeds as I drink – it’s so delicious. I added some lime and mint as well because they complement the fruit oh so perfectly.
Make this cocktail in just 5 minutes and get ready for a party on your tastebuds!

Serving Suggestions
I love putting together menus so you (and I) are ready to host on short notice. Here’s what I’d ideally pair with this summery spritz.
- As an appetizer, I’d serve a tropical cheeseboard to go alongside my tropical beverage!
- Some light summer veggie edamame bowls would be delicious as a main course, but you could also make a salmon and leek risotto if you have the time. If this is a lunchtime event, how about some vegan pasta salad with lemon herb dressing? I love a pasta salad in the summer!
- As for dessert, I would serve some coconut tres leches cupcakes or key lime cake since coconut and lime pair so well with passionfruit.
- And of course, keep those spritz’s coming!
FAQs
What does passionfruit taste like?
Passionfruit is delicious! It has notes of citrus and melon, and it’s full of sweet flavor, especially as it ripens.
How do I make a spritz without Aperol?
A spritz is usually made with a bitter aperitif like Aperol or Campari, but if you dislike the bitterness, you can just omit it. In this recipe, we use prosecco and sparkling water to give the cocktail some bubbles, along with fruit juice and liqueur. Since we don’t cut those sweet fruity flavors with an aperitif, it’s a lot sweeter than most spritz recipes.
Which color passionfruit is best?
It depends on what you’re using your passionfruit for! If you are juicing it, you’ll want to go for the yellow ones. If you’re eating it as-is, make sure you select a purple one. For this recipe, a purple passionfruit is best for the garnish.
Can you eat passionfruit seeds?
Absolutely! You can even add some seeds to your passionfruit cocktail if you enjoy them. It’ll be like a crunchy version of boba!
