This Italian Cherry Margarita is such a fruity and refreshing drink, perfect for a hot summer day. Use frozen cherries to keep the flavor bold and the drink cold, and don’t forget the Italicus which adds a slight floral flavor to balance out the cherry!
Why You’ll Love This Italian Margarita Recipe
I recently made a Cherry Spritz, and it’s no secret that I love an Italian Margarita, so today I decided to make the lovechild of both drinks – the Italian Cherry Margarita! It’s fruity, fresh, and icy cold, so it’s the perfect treat to sip on during those long summer days.
I’m imagining whipping up a batch as I lay by the pool after a long morning of gardening. It’d be so sweet and cooling, and since it’s fruity it’ll just feel like a healthy smoothie! 😉

Ingredients
Oh, you’re going to love these fruity and juicy ingredients. You can use fresh cherries if you’d like, but the flavor won’t be as vibrant because you’ll have to add ice. I find that the frozen cherries are just as delicious!
- Frozen cherries
- Blanco tequila
- Italicus
- Lime juice
- Agave
- Ice
- Fresh mint or basil – for garnish
How To Make an Italian Cherry Margarita
It’s simple; blend it all together! Add the frozen cherries, blanco tequila, Italicus, lime juice, agave, and ice to a blender. Once smooth, pour it into a glass and garnish with a lime wedge and fresh juicy cherries!
FAQs
What is a classic margarita made of?
The basic components of a margarita are tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice. Once you have that down you can add your favorite flavors, sweeteners, and some additional liqueurs.
What does Italicus taste like?
If you haven’t tasted Italicus yet, you’re missing out! It’s flavored with bergamot and Italian florals, so think Earl Grey tea with a flowery twist.
How do you keep frozen margaritas from separating?
The key is to thoroughly blend your cherry margarita until it’s completely smooth. If you have chunks of cherry or bigger ice crystals, the drink will naturally try to separate into individual layers. If everything is the same size when blended, it’ll remain cohesive.
