Make your very own homemade Passion Fruit Puree for cocktails! Whether it’s from fresh or frozen fruit, it’s delicious! With just one ingredient and a blender, you can create a sweet-tart puree that’s perfect for beverages, desserts, and more.

Why You’ll Love This Passion Fruit Puree Recipe
This puree is so fruity and tropical! Literally all you’re using is passion fruit pulp, and you can choose fresh or frozen. I made two versions of this recipe so I can show you how to make it either way.
Similar to cocktail syrups, this puree adds the most delightful fresh flavor to your drinks. If you’re a huge passion fruit fan and can get your hands on the whole fresh fruit itself, I would highly recommend it for the strongest flavor. Beyond drinks, you can use your puree in a variety of recipes!
Now, let’s dive into this tropical adventure and get you on Team Passion Fruit! You can thank me later.

Ingredients
All you need is passion fruit! Personally, I think fresh passion fruit produces the best flavor and results, but it’s really hard to find. I found it at Whole Foods and H Mart, so if you have those stores in your area you should start there.
Frozen passion fruit is more readily available; I found mine as Sprouts! And don’t worry, it still tastes delicious. The main difference is that the frozen version was thicker.
Two Ways To Make Passion Fruit Puree
Version 1: Puree From Fresh Fruit
- Halve each passion fruit and scoop out the inside flesh and seeds from each half. Place passion fruit insides into a food processor.
- Blend/pulse the passion fruit until the mixture is mostly liquid—strain the mixture into a bowl through a fine mesh sieve. Press the mixture into the sieve with a spatula until all the liquid has been strained.
- Place into an airtight container.
Version 2: Puree From Frozen Fruit
- Place the frozen passion fruit pieces in a food processor.
- Blend until the mixture is smooth and pureed. Strain into an airtight container.
- Place into an airtight container.
How To Store Passion Fruit Puree
Your puree should be enjoyed ASAP for optimal freshness, but you can also save it in the refrigerator or freezer for later use.
- Fridge: Store your puree in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
- Freezer: Portion your puree into airtight containers – I suggest an ice cube tray – so you don’t have to defrost it all at once.
FAQs
Yes and no. The juice you’d buy from the store would typically have sweetener and additives in it, while puree is the flesh from the fruit all blended until smooth. You can strain your puree to make it into a fresh juice!
You can use it in so many different ways! Obviously drinks are the most common use because it’s delicious in cocktails, matchas, mocktails, etc. However, you can also drizzle it over your ice cream for a fruity treat, oatmeal to start your day off right, or even a taco for a burst of sweetness. It’s also great in a salad dressing or marinade!
Yes, “lilikoi” is the Hawaiian word for passion fruit.
