I personally love a good ‘ol gin basil smash, and I love a refreshing strawberry gin mojito in the summertime, so when I was thinking about the next drink in my Summer of Spritz series, I knew I wanted to highlight gin and share how delicious it can be!

This blackberry spritz is a delicious sweet-tart cocktail with bubbles, ginger liqueur, and a dash of citrus. It has multiple layers of interest in every sip, including that fresh and juicy berry flavor! Enjoy this refreshing spritz on the rocks all summer long!

Ingredients

This gin spritz has the perfect balance of flavors!

  • Start with blackberries, lemon juice, and honey for a sweet-tart flavor.
  • And then add Domaine Canton ginger liqueur for a layer of sweet ginger spice. 
  • Your favorite gin will give the drink a fresh botanical flavor.
  • And the prosecco will add a delightful burst of bubbles!

How to Make a Blackberry Gin Spritz

Step 1: Muddle Blackberries

Place your fresh blackberries into the bottom of a large wine glass. Add lemon juice and honey and muddle everything together until the blackberries are crushed and the juices have been released.

Step 2: Add Gin

If desired, strain the blackberries, but you can also leave them in for a bit of texture. Then, fill the glass with ice and add ginger liqueur and gin. Stir everything together.

Step 3: Top With Bubbles

Top the remainder of the glass with prosecco and stir. Garnish with fresh blackberries, if desired.

FAQs

Is this spritz the same thing as a gin fizz? 

No, they’re not the same thing, but they do have some of the same ingredients. A fizz is just gin, lemon juice, sweetener, and club soda all shaken together to create a fizzy gin-based cocktail. This gin spritz has additional ingredients, and while it’s meant to be bubbly from the Prosecco, it’s not meant to be a “fizz.” 

What can I do with leftover blackberries? 

So many different things! Make a fruity blackberry lemonade, make a simple syrup out of it and use it in other cockails, use the blackberries as toppings for granola or pancakes in the morning, make blackberry rhubarb muffins, put them in a smoothie, make a pie, or just snack on them!

  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice 
  • ½ oz honey 
  • 1 oz Domaine Canton ginger liqueur 
  • 1 oz gin
  • Prosecco to top
