Ingredients

The ingredient list for this goat cheese with berries takes some help from the dairy section of the grocery store and your pantry. You will need:

honey, walnuts, goat cheese, thyme, blueberry preserves, blueberries, cream cheese

  • Goat cheese log
  • Cream cheese
  • Blueberry preserves
  • Fresh thyme sprigs
  • Honey
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Walnuts
  • Maldon sea salt
  • Crackers, crisps, crudites, for serving

Ingredient notes & substitutions:

  • Swap out the blueberry preserves and fresh fruit for another berry such as raspberry, strawberry or blackberry.
  • Garnish with thyme flowers, if you’re lucky enough to spot them in the grocery store come summertime.
  • Replace the walnuts with pecans or almonds.
  • Add in 1/2 – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for an extra bit of pizzazz.

How to make

This honey goat cheese log is as easy as 1-2-3! Here’s how to do it:

Mix ingredients: In a medium mixing bowl, mix together goat cheese and cream cheese. Add the chopped walnuts, then add the blueberry preserves, thyme sprigs, honey and fresh blueberries and mix until combined.

Garnish: Transfer dip into a medium serving bowl and spread into one even layer or a dome-shaped ball. Garnish the top with fresh thyme, honey and more blueberries.

Serve: Serve at room temperature or chill for 10-20 minutes before serving. Top dip off with a bit of flakey sea salt. Serve with crackers, crisps or crudites and a cheese spreader.

How to serve goat cheese

I love to serve this blueberry honey goat cheese as an app during happy hour, but it makes a gorgeous addition to summer charcuterie boards you can have hanging out for a bit throughout the party. A few of my favorite pairings include:

  • Crackers: Go for your favorite here – water crackers, seedy crackers, herb-scented or almond flour crackers are all delicious. Pretzels would also be divine.
  • Crips: My favorites are these Raincoast crisps sold in small boxes near the cheese counter. They come in a wide array of flavors, so go with your favorite. The goat cheese has an extra level of tang that can handle more nuanced flavors.
  • Crudites: Set out a platter of your favorite fresh-cut vegetables like celery, carrots, cucumbers and radishes.

Make ahead & storage instructions

The goat cheese spread can be made up to 2-3 days in advance. For best results, store it in an airtight container in the fridge and refrain from garnishing with herbs and flaky salt until just before serving.

Enjoy the dip chilled or remove it from the fridge 20-30 minutes prior to serving to take some of the chill off.

Recipe tips & notes:

  • Make sure ingredients are at room temperature. The goat cheese and cream cheese will mix together much easier.
  • Fold gently. This ensures the fresh blueberries stay intact. They add fun little pops of sweetness to the spread.
  • Spread into an even layer or mound into a dome. The presentation is all about your personal style — so go crazy!
