This Sex and the City Cosmopolitan Cocktail is just like Carrie’s men: strong and full of flavor! Made with just four ingredients, this cosmo comes together quickly so you can get girl’s night started ASAP!
Why You’ll Love The Cosmopolitan Cocktail From Sex and The City
So far in our Dinner and a Movie series we’ve made a few different kinds of food, but it’s past time for a cocktail! This Sex and the City cosmopolitan is as infamous as a drink can be – and it’s just as deliciously juicy as Carrie Bradshaw’s love life!
I love a classic cosmo because it feels so fun and flirty, and that’s largely due to the Carrie effect! As Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha caught up over drinks, our impressionable eyes saw the pinkish elixir slip past their lips and we absolutely needed it in our lives! The cosmopolitan represented freedom and joy, and women everywhere flocked to it like moths to a flame.
Cosmos lost some of their star power in the years after the show ended, but then the iconic movies pulled us back in with the nostalgia of our old pals! Now, I don’t think a cosmo will ever go out of style!

Serving Suggestions
Sex and the City is the ultimate “for the girls” kind of movie + series. I find myself reaching for it often just for comfort, and my friends and I reference Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte in everyday conversation. Next time you have a couple of your girls together, surprise them with this SATC-themed menu!
- As you’re sipping your cosmos, nosh on some of Carrie’s book-launch hot dogs! These air fryer pigs in a blanket are such a quick and easy way to serve up a yummy app. “Who needs a Burger when you can get a fabulous hot dog,” right?
- For your main course, make this Caprese prosciutto pizza. It’s an elevated version of the Caprese salad Trey’s mother Bunny served Carrie.
- For dessert, it has to be tres leches cupcakes! Who could forget Carrie and Miranda biting into Magnolia cupcakes, which effectively made them a New York icon!
FAQs
Which vodka is best for a cosmopolitan?
You can use your favorite kind of vodka for a cosmo! My only suggestion is to make sure it’s not flavored, or if it is, make sure it’s flavored with citrus. You don’t want to grab a flavor that will compete too much with the cranberry and lime.
What’s the difference between a cosmo and a martini?
A cosmo is a sweeter and fruitier drink, while a martini is more straight-up.
Was Carrie and Big’s relationship toxic?
Absolutely! But does that mean they weren’t meant to be together? No! In the grand scheme of things, I think Carrie and Big deserved each other (and thankfully we got to watch and learn from their mistakes).
