Ingredients
This recipe only calls for five simple ingredients – but make sure you go for freshness and quality!
- Fresh raspberries
- Juice of a lemon
- Agave
- Cranberry juice
- Vodka (or gin)
Substitutions + Variations
- Use a different kind of berry if want! Blueberries and lemon are a match made in heaven!
- No agave? Just use simple syrup or grenadine. You can even make your own simple syrup with extra raspberries for additional flavor.
- If you’re swapping out the raspberries for a different berry, you can use another juice that’d pair better. If you simply don’t have the cranberry juice, you can omit it, or muddle more raspberries with your lemon juice to add more raspberry flavor.
- Use raspberry-flavored alcohol if you don’t have the juice (I wouldn’t recommend a flavored alcohol in addition the juice though).
How To Make a Raspberry Martini with Vodka
Step 1: Muddle Raspberry and Lemon
Add your fresh raspberries and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker. Muddle them together until the raspberries are smashed and have released their juices to combine with with the lemon.
Step 2: Add Remaining Ingredients
Add agave, cranberry juice, and vodka (or gin) to the cocktail shaker. Fill it with ice and shake for 15-20 seconds, or until the outside of the container is very chilled.
Step 3: Strain
Strain your martini through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled martini glass.
Step 4: Garnish
Add fresh raspberries and a lemon slice (optional) for garnish.
Martini Recipe Tips
- Use a good muddler so you know you’re getting the most out of your ingredients. You want to get all of those good raspberry juices infused into your drink.
- Fresh ingredients are the best ingredients! You’ll want to make sure your raspberries are perfectly ripe. If you wouldn’t love eating it, you won’t love drinking it.
- Use good alcohol. Since martinis are so heavy on vodka (or gin), you want to make sure it’s a nice sipping quality.
Serving Suggestions
- Start with some yummy apps like goat cheese bruschetta or fried blue cheese stuffed olives. You could stop there and just enjoy your cocktail and appetizers, or go on to a showstopping main course.
- Try 15-minute Mediterranean salmon for something light, or a Dutch oven roast chicken for a classic dish. You could even make things easy with a sheet pan beef and broccoli recipe.
- The night wouldn’t be complete without a sweet treat! Continue on theme with this raspberry lime pie, or go in a chocolatey direction with a homemade peanut butter and chocolate skillet cookie!
