This Grapefruit Martini is super fresh and simple, and made with only 4 ingredients! A deliciously tart, crisp and sweet grapefruit cocktail recipe perfect for weekend brunch, summer parties, girl’s night or a casual night in!
Why You’ll Love This Pink Grapefruit Vodka Martini
Perfect any time of day! This one is inspired by the classic Greyhound cocktail, a simple combo of vodka (or gin) and grapefruit juice. It’s a morning, afternoon, or evening cocktail that is just as beautiful to drink as it is to look at.
Celebrates winter into spring! Just as we are on the cusp of winter and heading into spring, the fresh grapefruit juice celebrates the bounty of winter citrus but is light enough to enjoy on a breezy spring day. All that being said, it works wonders during the summer and fall, too.
Fast and fabulous! Ready in less than 5 minutes, this pink grapefruit vodka cocktail is a keeper. Squeeze fresh grapefruit juice and lime juice directly into your jigger, and you have an easy and super quick drink ready before you can say, party time! Plus, one grapefruit yields a lot of juice, so you probably only need one to make a batch.
Ingredients
All you need are 4 ingredients to make this easy grapefruit martini recipe in a flash. We will need:
- Vodka
- Grapefruit juice
- Lime juice
- St. Germain
Notes & Substitutions:
- Vodka: Use your favorite vodka here, like Ketel One or Tito’s. Gin would be a lovely substitution if you are a fan!
- Citrus juices: Opt for fresh citrus juice from a whole ruby red grapefruit and lime.
- Elderflower liquor: St. Germain adds the perfect finishing touch and gives it that special layering of flavors.
- Orange liquor: Feel free to make it a touch sweeter with 1/2 ounce of Triple Sec or Cointreau.
How To Make Your Grapefruit Cocktail
Just like so many of my cocktail recipes, this one simply requires a quick shake in a cocktail shaker:
Fill your cocktail shaker with ice. Add in vodka, fresh grapefruit juice, fresh lime juice, and St. Germain. Shake for 10-15 seconds, or until the outside of the shaker is icy. Strain it into a martini or coupe glass. Enjoy!
FAQs
If you would like to make an alcohol-free version, fill your favorite glass with ice, pour in the grapefruit juice and lime juice, then top with sparkling water or club soda. Fun, fresh, fruity and sparkling!
Pink grapefruit is grown as a blend of white and red grapefruits. It tends to be more citrusy and tart than sweet. For this recipe I used pink grapefruit, but you can use whatever you prefer.
It’s simple, they’re essentially the same thing! The word “cocktail” refers to any mixed alcoholic beverage, which includes martinis. So martinis are simply a variety of cocktail.
Serving Suggestions
I like to think of this martini with grapefruit juice as an anytime cocktail. In other words, it makes a wonderful al fresco brunch cocktail, perfect aperitif, or sip-able treat. Serve it at all your summer parties, girl’s nights or any casual day/night in at home.
The bitter yet sweet flavors go wonderful with Shrimp Cocktail or Goat Cheese Bruschetta, or salty snacks like Fried Olives, Martini Marinated Blue Cheese Olives, or Zucchini Corn Fritters.
Recipe tips & Notes:
- Invest in a jigger. Jiggers are those little 1-oz measuring cups that make a world of difference in cocktail making.
- Chill it down. Shaking for at least 10-15 seconds makes the cocktail ice cold.
- Give it a garnish. Finish with fresh grapefruit slices, lime wedges or a few fresh mint leaves to give it some pizzazz.
