Ingredient Variations

  • Use vanilla vodka for a deeper flavor.
  • Make pumpkin simple syrup to use instead of maple syrup.
  • Pumpkin liqueur in addition to (or in place of) coffee liqueur will make your espresso martini a lot more fall-leaning.
  • Vanilla extract adds a simple boost of flavor.
  • Garnish with finely crushed graham crackers, cinnamon sticks, or cinnamon sugar.
  • You can rim your glass with maple syrup and garnish with mini chocolate chips since chocolate and espresso pair so well together.

You can make pumpkin spice simple syrup with sugar, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and water, but you can also get creative with pumpkin pie spice and cream – just taste as you go along. Torani also makes delicious pumpkin syrup, so give that a try if you’d like.

What is pumpkin spice made of?

It’s made of a combination of spices including cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, and ginger. You can purchase it pre-made at the store, or mix your own pumpkin pie spice with the measurements that best suit your tastebuds.

What liquor is best for an espresso martini?

Espresso martinis are made a couple of different ways, but you can always count on vodka as the base liquor. Beyond that, you can add coffee liqueur, Bailey’s cream, or any other flavors you’d like.

Why do espresso martinis have three coffee beans on top?

Well, it makes it look pretty chic! However, it’s also symbolic of health, wealth, and happiness. Win-win!
