Just one week away till Easter! It’s hard to believe how fast the first few months of the year have gone! Easter’s were 99% spent at my grandpas. He’s got this amazing forest like back yard and it is EPIC for Easter Egg hunts. The man would probably throw out a few hundred eggs filled with everything under the sun. Lotto tickets, reeses candies, godiva chocolates, jelly beans, $50 bills, you Name it! If it could fit in an easter egg we most likely got it one year or another. Those hunts are some of the fondest memories of my childhood and I hope one day I can pay it back for a good bunch of kiddos.
Drawing up a good tablescape is one of my favorite parts of the blog (so I hope you guys like it too!). While recipes will always be the livelihood of the site, small styled pieces are amongst my favorite as well. This last week I was booked to style a shoot for Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere and it was so good! The styling is here to stay and I am loving it. You know when you’re teachers ask you what you want to be in high school?! I always said editor of a magazine so I could create beautiful content. Little did I know I would be following in my very own dreamful footsteps.
Exhibit A: Easter tablescape! (P.S. if there is any content that you want us to whip up we always love hearing ideas!)
For each new season I try and draw up a “mood board” that is filled with different colors, recipes, foods, flowers and produce that match the season. This spring I went a little crazy with millennial pink. I am so into pink right now. I wish I had a small room in my apartment that was just beautiful pale pink. Ah, Jared what do you think?! But! I highly suggest if your creative gears ever get a bit dry try
We transformed my patio table into a floral and pastel filled afternoon. I have such a hard time with using those crazy traditional Hallmark Easter colors. I wanted the whole concept to feel soft but easy to put together. What I love about this table is that while it’s absolutely wonderful for Easter it also works really well for all the spring months!
Color Palette
We kept it super soft and pastel like. The main few colors were peach, mint, chambray and soft pinks. To accent and give some detail we through in gold and milk glass pieces. If you’re having a hard time getting a color palette together for a gathering choose 3-5 that compliment each other or even use a color wheel website to help with some contrast.
Flower Wreaths
The flower wreaths were made by Abbie. I have mentioned Abbie in a few posts but just to bring you up to speed!.. She is a dear friend of mine with a great eye for design and photography. We have put together an easy tutorial post HERE! to make these darling little flower wreaths. I wanted to keep the idea simple but you could very easily add a small tag to each one and use them for assigned seats!
Greenery
If you have ran out of decor (and budget! ha!) go with the green. And I don’t mean cash! I’ve got a few good trees around my apartment that give off great greenery so we hooked a few branches together for this accent piece. I always try adding details in the background of a styled piece to give extra texture and it looks GREAT for photos! Hello photo backdrop!
