Happy Sunday!
This weekend marks the unofficial ‘last weekend’ of summer with Labor Day on Monday. In my eyes I feel like we still have another week or two left of summer but things are very slowly starting to head into fall! I have already started mood boards and post ideas for October and November and I have to say I think I’m quite excited to swap out my shorts for sweaters. This time last year I was barely skimming the surface of my full time blog life but I am excited to head into the holiday season, full throttle, with a business mindset!
This weekend we had lots of family time and end-of-summer activities! Friday night Jared and I had a very low key evening including a large pizza on the coffee table and a Marvel movie (we are almost finished with our Marvel movie marathon!). Saturday and Sunday were filled with family BBQ’s. I have some family in town from Colorado this weekend so we spent as much time as we could with them! I am using the weekend to try and shift my mindset and get into the new season! What are you guys up to during this last week of summer?!
1. Saveur Blog Awards
If you follow me on instagram, then I’m sure by now that you know we made it as one of the 6 finalists for ‘Best Entertaining Blog’ for the Saveur Magazine Blog Awards! There were over 20,000 nominations and we made it down to the final six! I am still in shock that I actually made it this far and it is so insanely humbling!
Every year I always check out the finalists and would only DREAM about how amazing it would be to make it on the ballot. The moment the email hit my inbox I was stunned! It was one of those very surreal and epically cool life moments that only happen once in a while. I told Jared it was basically the Grammy’s for bloggers so he is now calling it the ‘Blammies’. Whether I win or not, we are headed to Tennessee in November for the awards show!
I hate asking people to do things for me but I cannot tell you how grateful I would be if you helped out this crazy blog lady and voted for me for ‘Best Entertaining Blog’. You can vote once a day until September 12th! Every vote counts! Winning something like this could potentially open so many doors and it such amazing recognition. VOTE HERE!
2. The Inspired Home Posts
This week on The Inspired Home I am sharing a backyard movie night that we had over the summer! It was such a cozy and fun way to gather my friends and celebrate summer. It was a nice break in between dinner parties and felt so casual and relaxed! I highly recommend for anyone with a backyard big or small! Read the whole post here!
3. Behind the Scenes of my Weekend Shoot Day!
Two of my close friends and boss ladies from the blogosphere world, Jackie and Sierra, run a company called Sincerely Social. I’ve talked about these ladies before and while I am so happy to know them in the working world they are even better friends now! Sierra also has a golden retriever (english cream actually!) named Quinn and is basically Rascal’s girlfriend! Every time she comes over she brings Quinn and it is the cutest puppy fest ever. Being a dog mom has definitely been one of my most fun roles in life! Sierra and Jackie were in a pinch and needed a last minute photoshoot done for a client of theirs. I have such a hard time turning down work (especially since I started blogging full time) and I’ll pretty much do all that I can to help these ladies out! Soooo we made a day of it! Jackie and Sierra brought mimosas and we had a fun working day! These days make me really happy that I do what I do. See some fun outtakes below 🙂

5. Fall Mood Board
At the start of each season I love to form a ‘mood board‘ to get me in the spirit and see what I am loving for the season. It can be difficult to change your entire creative focus so I usually ease into the season with a seasonal packed pinterest board! Here are some looks and concepts that I am loving for the seasonal shift!
6. Office Essentials (School supplies for adults!)
I will totally admit that this week I felt like I was under quite a bit of pressure. I’m lucky to live with a boyfriend that cares about me so much. To bring my spirit up Jared took me on a late night trip for ‘school supplies’. Yes, school supplies. I recently told him that I LOVED going school supply shopping when I was a kid/teenager. Buying new mechanical pencils, fresh packs of markers and clean notebooks were one of the only things that got my excited to head back to school after summer vacation. This week he took me on a shopping spree. I absolutely love doing nostalgic things so it was a total blast. Here are some of my favorites this season!
