Why You’ll Love This Matcha Martini
Move over, espresso! The Matcha Martini is ready for the spotlight, and for good reason! This fresh and delicious cocktail has all the energy boosting qualities of espresso martinis, but since matcha’s caffeine is released slowly, you get energized without a crash at the end.
Did you know about all of matcha’s health benefits? It has tons of antioxidants that can lower blood pressure, lower bad cholesterol, and help improve heart health.
I love this matchatini so much, it’s truly the martini of summer. It’s made with pineapple juice for tropical vibes and freshness. It’s a super simple recipe and only requires a handful of ingredients!
I hope you love this cocktail as much as I do. Let me know how you like it, and have fun making this matcha martini all summer long!

Variations:
Since matcha has an earthy flavor, it lends itself well to a variety of flavor combinations. Here are some ideas!
- Instead of pineapple juice, muddle your favorite berries. Use them as garnish too!
- Lychee is a fresh and tropical flavor you can add to the fruity version.
- Add mint to for an extra burst of freshness.
- Make your own foam! Just blend heavy cream (or coconut cream) with your favorite flavor. It can be vanilla, strawberry, etc. Then top your matchatini with a decadent creamy topping.
How to Make a Matchatini
Fruity Matcha Martini
- Add matcha powder to a small glass bowl. Add hot water and mix with a fork or bamboo whisk until the mixture has dissolved.
- Add matcha to a cocktail shaker along with pineapple juice, vodka, cointreau and orgeat syrup. Fill with ice and shake for 10-15 seconds or until the shaker is very cold.
- Strain into a coupe glass and dust a little lime zest on top before serving.
FAQs
There are three grades of matcha. From best to not-the-best, there are ceremonial, premium, and culinary grades. I would highly recommend using ceremonial grade since it’s the best for drinking. Premium will also work fine, and it’s often less expensive, but I’d advise against using culinary grade.
Honestly, pretty much any alcohol pairs well with matcha! For this fruity version, I used vodka because it’s more neutral and won’t compete with the flavors of matcha and pineapple. You can also try pairing matcha with gin, tequila, whiskey, and rum. It’s up to you!
Orgeat is a new favorite of mine! It’s delicious, subtly powerful, and honestly just perfect. It has an almond flavor with some floral elements to it.
If you can’t get your hands on orgeat, you can use amaretto or simple syrup mixed with almond extract.
